In 1936, the world famous Turkish poet Nazım Hikmet writes the libretto for a new stage musical for one of the most famous composers of the young Turkish Republic, Cemal Reşit Rey. Nazım had been hiding away from the authorities because of his communist activities, so he doesn’t want to be credited. The show becomes a success and still is after 70 years. It turns out to be the longest running stage musical in Turkey, still sold-out after thousands of shows.
But, Nazım had another version of the same story, only taking place in the future: 2006!.. When this thrown away text is "excavated" and the same world and characters are put in "the future-today", the result is a retro-futuristic ballroom extravaganza where a brechtian treatment of a dance between the dirty rich and the decadent luxury addicts takes place. Finally it is a musical about a small time thief amongst big time crooks...
