| What really happened in the year 1345, an unrecorded period of the last six months in the lives of two legendary Turkish stand-up comedians, Karagoz & Hacivat? They lived and died during the first clashes of the decaying Eastern Roman Empire and the first Ottomans of the 14th century Anatolia. This is a period when Christians, Jews, Muslims and their related heretical sects existed and were squeezed between the hordes of nomadic Turks and a corrupted Eastern Roman Empire. Their stories are adapted for traditional shadow theatre of the later Ottoman Empire, in modern Turkey and all over the Middle-East. Although the legend and truth about their tragic deaths have been twisted and distorted in time, their stingy humor still lingers on. A story about the tragedy and danger of humor and the humorist.
